Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested two men, aged 26 and 48, in Cambrils on Wednesday for attempted theft inside a foreign tourist vehicle on the AP-7 motorway.

A patrol from the Cambrils police station's Citizen Security Unit, performing crime prevention duties on the AP-7, was alerted to potential thefts. At kilometer 275 northbound, officers intercepted the two suspects, who attempted to flee on foot after approaching the victims' vehicle.
According to the foreign tourists, the thieves forced them to stop by positioning themselves in front of the car and then tried to trick them into believing they had a flat tire—a common method used to distract victims and commit the theft.
During the arrest, one of the men was charged with driving without ever having obtained a license and another count against road safety, as he performed dangerous, high-speed maneuvers to force the victims to stop, creating a serious risk to traffic.
The Mossos confirmed that the two detainees, who accumulate up to 66 police records for property crimes, were the same individuals who, along with a third person, had been arrested on December 1st for three other thefts in Cambrils following a long chase on the TV-3141 road.
The two men were brought before the duty investigating court in Reus yesterday, facing charges of attempted theft inside a vehicle and, in the case of the driver, road safety offenses.
