The GEPEC environmental group and the Unió de Pagesos farmers' union have warned that the Catalan Government's new renewable energy plan (PLATER) represents a death blow to Baix Camp's agricultural activity.

Critics argue that the Generalitat de Catalunya is imposing a model that violates climate change laws by failing to prioritize energy production near consumption centers. Xavi Jiménez, president of GEPEC, described the plan as an imposition lacking municipal consensus.
The regional energy institute (ICAEN) has set targets for Baix Camp to produce 903.2 MW of solar power and 677.7 MW of wind power. This would involve installing 135 wind turbines and covering 740 hectares with solar panels, which farmers claim is incompatible with rural tourism and food production.

"This is incompatible with agriculture and rural tourism. We will lose farms and depend on third countries."

A protest has been scheduled for March 22 in Montbrió del Camp by the Aturem els Molins platform. The mobilization targets specific wind projects that have already received negative reports due to their severe landscape impact.
