The decision, announced by the Moviment Ciutadà mayor, comes amidst tension with Cambrils City Council workers, who had requested the resignation of the former councillor and had called a press conference this Tuesday noon.
Klein defended the action as "consensual" with governing partners (PSC and PP) and noted that the situation is "complex" and "accumulated over the years." The mayor asserted that it will now be his turn to "deal" with the problem.
The situation has reached a critical point, with a structural collapse of the department that negatively affects the working conditions of the staff and the public service received by citizens.
Former Councillor Mar España will remain in the municipal government, taking charge of the Social Welfare Department, a change she described as a voluntary "step aside" given the "wear and tear" of the Human Resources area.
Mayor Oliver Klein called for "responsibility" from the unions to "seek solutions" and assured that some demands are already being implemented, such as creating new positions and paying salary arrears, although he warned that "doing such complex work is not the work of a single day".
