The Mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita, inaugurated this Wednesday, February 25th, the new climate shelter at Pompeu Fabra School, funded by Next Generation EU funds.

This intervention is part of the RENATUReus strategy to bring nature back to the city. The project involved the school community in its design and features new green spaces and natural play areas for the students.
The renovation replaced concrete with soft surfaces like sand and wood bark in the north courtyard, while adding a new pergola for outdoor classes. In the south courtyard, new vegetation and draining pavements were installed to provide shade and comfort.
This project is part of the first phase of the Reus Climate Shelter Plan, which targets four local schools with a total investment of over one million euros.
