The city of Reus officially started the Old Lent season this Friday, February 20, with the traditional ceremony of cutting the first of the figure's seven legs.

The event took place at Peixateries Velles square, featuring Emilio Gomez from the local Carnival Association and illustrator Aida Escote. Students from Rubio i Ors and La Salle schools attended the first session of this cultural performance.
Approximately 2,500 students from Reus are expected to join the weekly Friday events. The final leg will be removed on April 1, Holy Wednesday, in a public ceremony marking the end of the period.
