The municipal company Aigües de Reus has identified 2026 as a pivotal year to modernize the water network in Reus through new strategic sustainability plans.

The planning involves the Comprehensive Sanitation System Plan (PIGSS) and the Water Supply Master Plan. These documents aim to align the city with European Union standards regarding wastewater treatment and flood risk management.
Key infrastructure projects include recovering wells at Reus Airport and building a new Water Treatment Plant (ETAP) at the Agro-Reus industrial estate to remove nitrates and diversify local water sources.

"Water supply and sanitation are never a fixed photo; we must continuously improve the service and anticipate climate emergency challenges."

Daniel Rubio · City Councilor for Aigües de Reus
The digital transformation will be completed with remote meter reading across Reus, allowing citizens to monitor consumption and receive automatic leak alerts via a digital portal.
