The Reus City Council has decided to indefinitely extend the deactivation of the Low Emission Zone (ZBE) due to the failure to restore normal Rodalies train service.

The extension of the ZBE deactivation in Reus has been in effect since January 21 and will continue until the Rodalies train service operates with the required “normality.” During this period, all days of the week will be treated the same as a public holiday under the regulatory context of the ZBE.
This decision means that the days of suspension will not count towards the maximum number of annual accesses allowed. The ordinance sets a limit of 24 accesses without authorization for vehicles belonging to non-residents of Reus or those who do not pay the vehicle tax in the city, who are otherwise affected by the limitations.
The action taken by Reus aligns with the request from the Government of the Generalitat, which has urged municipalities with ZBEs to apply the exceptions and authorizations provided in their municipal ordinances. The goal is to utilize flexibility mechanisms to allow entry and exit for all restricted vehicles.
