The Fortuny Theater in Reus has been operating without an official managing director since 2013, following the withdrawal of the Generalitat de Catalunya from its governing consortium.

For over a decade, the leadership of this landmark venue has been handled through temporary appointments and advisory roles. Currently, the Reus City Council is working on a new administrative model to create a single management office for all public theaters in the city, including the Bartrina and the upcoming Performing Arts Center.
The administrative vacuum coincides with the recent closure of the theater on February 10 due to fire safety and electrical failures. Mayor Sandra Guaita highlighted that the lack of structural investment and the legal challenges of funding a privately-owned building, belonging to El Círcol, have complicated the theater's maintenance.
