This project, organized by the Centre de Lectura de Reus in collaboration with the Consorci del Teatre Bartrina and the Institut Municipal Reus Cultura, aims to promote contemporary dance and serve as a platform for professionals in the sector through excellence.
New features this year include nine masterclasses led by jury members, which have registered over 140 participants, and two choreographic laboratories. In the amateur category, more than 220 choreographies have been submitted, involving over 315 participants from 22 schools and young companies across Catalonia, Spain, and Italy.
Regarding the professional branch, the competition is divided into the Professional Choreographic Contest, with eight international proposals selected, and the Performance Contest, which selected seven out of 15 received proposals. This year's jury includes Roberto Olivan, Diego Sinniger, Asun Noales, and Emili Gutiérrez.
As a prelude to the competition, on Monday, February 16, some of the Òrbita Awards participants will dance in various shop windows in central Reus. The route will begin in the lobby of the Reus City Council at 11 a.m. and proceed to key stores such as Intecat (Apple), Casa Pujol, Jo fré, and Rosa Lucas.
