The Sant Jordi per la Llengua platform has called for a new day of mobilizations next April 23rd in Reus and other cities to warn about the language's loss of social prominence.

For the second consecutive year, various civil and social entities will take to the streets during the Sant Jordi festival. Besides the main gathering in Barcelona, Reus will be a key protest point, along with Girona, Tortosa, Manresa, and Igualada. The initiative is supported by organizations such as Òmnium Cultural.

"This year, social awareness that the language is in danger and needs to be defended has grown."

Organizers criticize the increasing folklorization of the holiday and demand it regains its national vindication character. Spokespeople Adrià Font and Núria Alcaraz emphasize the need for more courses to ensure Catalan remains a tool for social cohesion.
