The city of Reus is experiencing a surge in its hospitality sector this March, with four new establishments opening in key locations such as Plaça del Mercadal and the Tecnoparc area.

New venues are launching in Carrer de la Mar and Avinguda Pere el Cerimoniós, driven by both local entrepreneurs and outside investment groups. Currently, Reus holds 262 restaurant licenses and 340 bar licenses, serving a population that now exceeds 110,000 residents.
This growth results in a ratio of one establishment for every 185 inhabitants, placing Reus within a moderate range compared to broader regional averages. The trend highlights the city's capacity to generate employment and offer leisure autonomy to its citizens without relying on neighboring towns.
However, the sector faces challenges, such as the recent desertion of the tender for the Gaudí Centre restaurant. Despite its prime location, the public facility remains closed, contrasting with the overall private sector growth seen across the city center.
