The plenary session of the Ribera d’Ebre Regional Council, held on Tuesday, January 27, placed the railway crisis of the R15 line at the center of the political debate. The approved text denounces that the current situation is not an isolated incident, but the result of a “historical, sustained, and structural lack of investment” that especially affects the southern regions of Catalonia.
The institutional declaration sets three urgent demands for the competent bodies: the immediate restoration of the service with safety guarantees; free passes and alternative transport tickets while previous conditions are not recovered; and the execution of a medium and long-term investment plan to modernize the infrastructure and ensure preventive maintenance.
“"We are concerned, above all, that right now we do not have a clear date for the resumption of the service. A strong action is needed on the R15, and we will not stop until we have dates, investment volumes, and certainties."
Beyond the railway crisis, the plenary session also gave initial approval to the II Plan for Feminist Policies and the II Plan for Sexual, Affective, and Gender Diversity. These plans will be valid for four years (2026-2029) and aim to eradicate male violence and incorporate a feminist perspective across eight strategic areas, including education, health, and the labor market.
