The Diputació de Tarragona confirmed on January 26, 2026, that the new Reus auditorium will be located at the Palau Bofarull, expanding the cultural space by acquiring adjacent ground floors.

This decision marks a change from the Diputació's initial proposal, which envisioned building a new facility in the Horts de Miró neighborhood, near the Centre Cívic Llevant. That option, which involved an urban operation and purchasing land from Sareb, has now been definitively ruled out.

The action will provide the Conservatory and Music School with a suitable stage space for concerts and academic activities, integrating it into an already consolidated location.

The expansion of Palau Bofarull will address the current limitations regarding capacity, acoustics, and functionality of the Auditori Higini Anglès. It will also centralize the teaching and artistic activities of the Conservatori in one location.
The new facility will be architecturally integrated into the Palau complex, optimizing existing installations. This solution favors an intervention better suited to the urban environment and the established cultural use in the center of Reus.
