The URV Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences officially opened its renovated facilities in Reus this Wednesday, featuring new laboratories and high-tech surgical simulation equipment.

The 834,000-euro project was funded by the Ministry of Health to support the recent expansion of medical student enrollment. These improvements ensure that the 137 students currently enrolled in the degree program have access to modern, high-quality educational spaces in the Baix Camp capital.

"With the increase in student places, it was necessary for students to have the best possible conditions for quality teaching."

Josep Pallarès · URV Rector
Renovations took place in buildings 0 and 3 of the Reus campus. Key upgrades include two new 96-square-meter laboratories and an expanded computer room. The project also added a multipurpose classroom designed to accommodate 32 students, replacing older facilities in the basement.
The investment also covers two advanced Laerdal Medical laparoscopy simulators. These virtual reality devices, located at Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona and Sant Joan Hospital in Reus, allow students to practice complex surgical skills with automated performance analysis.
