The club offers three sessions facilitated by writer and literary critic Irene Pujadas, aiming to discuss books and reflect on the theme of peace. Interested individuals can collect one of the 15 available copies from the library.
The first meeting, on Wednesday, October 28, will focus on the autobiographical novel I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou, which addresses survival and the denunciation of racism in the United States during the first half of the 20th century.
The second session, on Wednesday, February 17, will analyze Johnny Got His Gun by journalist Dalton Trumbo, a work about a soldier severely wounded during World War I.
The closing session, on Wednesday, May 19, will be dedicated to the novel Lost Children Archive by Valeria Luiselli, exploring the fragility of family bonds and the human condition in an unjust and unequal world.
Irene Pujadas, the club's facilitator, is a writer and literary critic with experience in publications such as Ara Llegim and La Directa. She is a co-founder of the magazine Branca and works at Angle Editorial. She has published the short story collection Els Desperfectes, winner of the Documenta award and the Ciutat de Barcelona award, and her debut novel received the Finestres narrative prize.
The Catalan Institute for Peace (ICIP) is a public institution established by the Parliament of Catalonia in 2007 to promote a culture of peace within Catalan society and internationally.
