CUP councilor in Reus speaking at a press conference about urban planning and tree felling.
CUP Reus will request an independent report to assess the impact of the works on the future civic axis of Astorga Street on existing trees, expressing concern over the quality of the plant replacement.
Councilwoman Mònica Pàmies expressed concern because the transformation project for Astorga Street, involving an investment of over 4 million euros, did not include a detailed study on the mature trees that will be felled.

"There will be no qualitative compensation in the replacement of the mature and adult trees currently there with shrubs or other plants."
The Reus City Council, for its part, noted that the project plans for the planting of over 100 new trees, 3,000 shrubs, and 8,000 plants, in addition to widening sidewalks and adding a bike lane in the section between Sant Bernat Calvó and Mediterrani avenues.
The CUP also addressed the future handover of the Adif railway track area to the City Council, celebrating the unblocking but reiterating their proposal for a large green area, parking, and a pedestrian and bicycle walkway.
“
"We do not want it to be an excuse to build apartment blocks and a small roundabout."
Councilwoman Aleida López criticized the government's lack of city vision, pointing out issues like homelessness or the lack of public places in residences, and questioning the interests driving the current projects, which show “reminiscences” of the mandates of Lluís Miquel Pérez.
“
"It reminds me of an old PSC that did things for the photo, which does not take into account the daily life of the citizens."
