The Association of Dance Teachers of the Tarragona Regions (APDCT) announced the twelfth edition of the Roseta Mauri Scholarship Prize in Reus, combining masterclasses and a choreographic competition during the last two weekends of January.

The presentation of the contest, which has the support of the Coordinator of Authorized Dance Schools of Reus and the Diputació de Tarragona, took place this Friday at the Teatre Bartrina. The Councilor for Culture and Linguistic Policy, Daniel Recasens, highlighted the role of the award as a pre-professional platform for young dancers.

"We pursue the possibility of granting scholarships to participants to work in the world of dance and, at the same time, defend a piece before a jury, as a pre-professional experience."

This year's edition has seen a significant increase in participation, exceeding 700 registered students, compared to 600 in the previous edition. This high number will allow for the granting of study and training scholarships, notably including four scholarships destined for the Professional Dance Conservatory of the Institut del Teatre.
The president of the APDCT, Meritxell Puvill, explained that the main objective is to foster training and coexistence among students and professionals. Masterclasses will be held on the weekend of January 17 and 18, while the choreographic competition and the Closing Gala, open to the public, will take place from January 23 to 25 at the Teatre Bartrina.
As a notable novelty, the Premium category, an amateur level open to students aged 22 and over, has been incorporated. Additionally, the Association Prize, for professionals over 22, and the Trajectory in the World of Dance Prize, judged by cultural figures such as David Callau, Fito Luri, and Carlota Moragues, will also be awarded.
