Freight trains have resumed circulation on the R-15 line this Tuesday, although the alternative road transport service for passengers remains active between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Reus. This situation has highlighted the severe degradation suffered by the line, resulting from two decades of underinvestment and neglect by the administrations.
The Móra la Nova station is an example of this abandonment. The facilities show a worrying state of deterioration, with accumulated rubbish and weeds even on the tracks. Users only have access to a waiting room, as ticket sales at the counter have been discontinued.
“"People don't know how to manage it and, simply, they don't use the train."
The alternative bus service, enabled since Friday, has seen minimal use. The vehicles that stopped at the Móra la Nova terminal on Tuesday morning were practically empty. Furthermore, users have to 'guess' the schedules, as the stops do not detail the bus passing times, relying only on an informant for approximate directions.
The spokesperson for the Trens Dignes Terres de l'Ebre-Priorat platform, Josep Casadó, warned that the lack of investment is due to the line being maintained primarily for freight transport. Casadó criticizes that Adif is dismantling the infrastructure, including the removal of tracks at some stations that prevent trains from crossing, a critical issue on a single-track line.
