Reus Deportiu Brasilia defeats Cerdanyola and solidifies fifth place in the OK Liga

The 3-6 victory at Can Xarau was secured thanks to an inspired Martí Casas, who scored a decisive hat-trick.

Reus Deportiu Brasilia secured an important 3-6 victory against Cerdanyola CH at Can Xarau this Saturday, consolidating their fifth position in the OK Liga standings before their upcoming European commitment.

The team led by coach Jordi Garcia visited Can Xarau with the clear goal of remaining in the top spots, despite the absence of goalkeeper Càndid Ballart, who was rested for the Champions League match next Thursday against Saint-Omer. Young Carles Casas opened the scoring with a great solo play (0-1), followed by the Argentine Maxi Oruste, who connected a powerful shot to make it 0-2 before halftime.
The second half started electrically with an early goal from Xavi Rovira for Cerdanyola (1-2), but Reus's response was immediate. Half a minute later, Martí Casas restored the two-goal advantage (1-3). In the 31st minute, Martí Casas converted a direct free hit, resulting from the tenth local foul, to make it a comfortable 1-4, although Marc Vázquez quickly narrowed the gap (2-4).
The match heated up, with increasing clashes between players. With five minutes remaining, Martí Casas completed his hat-trick by converting another direct free hit (2-5). Although Xavi Rovira scored again from a direct free hit (3-5), Marc Julià filtered a great pass to the Chilean Diego Rojas, who sealed the definitive 3-6 score with just over a minute left.
With this ninth victory in the OK Liga, Jordi Garcia's team is now focused on the decisive Champions League match on Thursday, where they need to defeat the French side to keep their chances of qualifying for the Final 8 alive. Next Sunday, Reus will host Rivas from Madrid at the Bombonera.
