The initiative, managed by the Department of Economic Promotion, Innovation and Knowledge and REDESSA, seeks to position the capital of Baix Camp as a hub for attracting talent and new generation projects. These regulated environments allow for safe experimentation before mass implementation, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
“"With the Sandbox Reus we want to position the city as an innovation laboratory and an attractive environment for the arrival of new projects. Reus can become a benchmark in the testing and validation of technological solutions, especially in areas where we have consolidated strengths."
The main objective is to offer a validation space for companies, entrepreneurs, and start-ups working in strategic sectors such as health, agri-food, logistics, sustainability, and digital solutions. To define the model, sectoral tables have been promoted with local economic agents, and municipalities in the Red Innpulso network, such as Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Alcoi, have been visited.
Currently in the design and consultation phase, the City Council anticipates that the first pilot test could be deployed during the first semester of 2026. One of the candidate spaces to host these projects is the area around the Tecnoparc Technology and Innovation Park, although the final location will depend on the characteristics of the pilot.
