Sant Joan Reus-Baix Camp Health has concluded its 2nd Patient Experience Week, held from October 26-30, with over 40 activities focused on citizen-centered care and improving health services.

The initiative, which ended last Friday, focused on person-centered care and gave prominence to patients' voices for enhancing health services. The program took place across various centers, including the Sant Joan University Hospital of Reus, the CAP Marià Fortuny Health Center in Reus, the CAP la Selva del Camp, the CAP Riudoms, the CAP Vandellòs-l'Hospitalet, and the Antoni de Gimbernat Light Hospital in Cambrils.
"It has been a week that allowed us to listen to and learn from the experiences of patients, families, and professionals," highlighted Raquel Gutiérrez, Head of Citizen Attention and Patient Experience at Salut Sant Joan Reus-Baix Camp. The week served to present innovative projects and reflect on future challenges.
The event was organized by the Citizen Health Experience Observatory (OECS), comprising over forty volunteer professionals from the organization. The inaugural session included participation from Dr. Gloria Gálvez, Secretary of Healthcare and Participation of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Dr. Marta Milà, Manager of the Camp de Tarragona Health Region; and Dr. Anton Benet, Manager of Salut Sant Joan Reus-Baix Camp.
Throughout the week, knowledge exchange with other Catalan healthcare centers was promoted, such as the Joan XXIII University Hospital of Tarragona, the Móra d'Ebre Regional Hospital, the Clínic Hospital of Barcelona, and the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital of Barcelona. In-house initiatives were also presented, including the incorporation of patient input into the Strategic Plan 2026-2030 and a project to support children with autism spectrum disorder undergoing electroencephalograms.
The participation of patients, caregivers, and entities was a highlight of the fourth day, with discussions on emotional support, dignity in care, autism, and the role of associations. The closing session focused on translating patient contributions into concrete improvement actions, presenting experiences in obstetric care, emergency services transformation, clinical safety, and the humanization of the Radiotherapy Oncology Service.
In parallel, primary care teams conducted community activities in municipalities across the territory, addressing topics such as health promotion, emotional well-being, and digital services.
