The Guàrdia Urbana de Reus recorded more than fifty incidents during the early hours of Monday, January 26, due to severe wind gusts. Over twenty of the reported damages involved fallen trees and branches on public roads, in addition to displaced street furniture and facade collapses.
Authorities had activated the alert phase of their respective emergency plans since Sunday morning, following forecasts issued by the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Catalan Meteorological Service) and Protecció Civil. Both the Reus City Council and the Generalitat took preventive measures.
Among the most significant incidents was the fall of a tree at the roundabout on Avinguda dels Països Catalans on Sunday evening, which required the intervention of the Bombers (Firefighters). Another serious incident occurred on Carrer de Maspujols, where a citizen was trapped inside their vehicle due to a fallen tree, also requiring emergency assistance.
Material damage was also reported on Carrer del Pintor Fuster, where a tree fell onto a vehicle, and on Carrer de la Closa de Mestres, where a collapsing wall affected several parked cars. Despite the high number of incidents registered, municipal sources confirmed that, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
