The Deltebre Triathlon, taking place on April 11 and 12, has achieved a new record with 1,610 participants, becoming the second largest in Catalonia and projecting an economic impact of 298,500 euros.
The town of Deltebre is preparing to host a new edition of its Triathlon this weekend, on April 11 and 12. This sporting event, already well-established in the Catalan calendar, has exceeded all expectations with a total of 1,610 registered participants, the highest figure in its history. This record officially positions it as the second largest triathlon in Catalonia.
“
"The Deltebre Triathlon is today one of the municipality's great calling cards, both from a sporting point of view and from its tourist and economic projection."
The mayor of Deltebre, Lluís Soler, emphasized the importance of the event, highlighting that the race not only strengthens the municipality's sporting image but also boosts its tourist and economic projection. According to Soler, achieving this participation record and its position as Catalonia's second largest triathlon demonstrate the vitality of an event that continues to grow and consolidate Deltebre on the map of major sporting events in the country.
The deputy mayor for DeltebreProjecció, Francisco Castro, highlighted the sports model being implemented in the municipality. Castro noted that the triathlon is an opportunity to showcase the local landscape, organizational capacity, and Deltebre's offerings beyond the competition, contributing to economic revitalization and the deseasonalization of tourism.
“
"This event allows us to show the world our landscape, our organizational capacity, and everything that Deltebre offers beyond the competition. Triathlon is sport, but it is also economic activity, revitalization, and promotion at a key moment to continue deseasonalizing tourism."
The estimated economic impact for this edition exceeds 290,000 euros, based on the 298,500 euros generated in the previous edition. This data demonstrates the event's capacity to stimulate local economic activity and strengthen the municipality's projection. Of the 1,610 registered participants, 32 are from Deltebre and 150 from the Terres de l'Ebre, reflecting the event's local roots and its ability to mobilize participants from all over Catalonia and Spain.
The Deltebre Triathlon offers various modalities adapted to all levels, including Sprint, Olympic, Half, Short, and Aquabike races. The circuits are designed to maximize the natural environment, combining sporting challenge with the beauty of the landscape, turning the competition into an experience that goes beyond the strictly athletic realm. The organization relies on the involvement of 168 volunteers, a testament to the organizational capacity and collective collaboration that makes an event of this magnitude possible.
“
"The Deltebre Triathlon is also a reflection of the combined efforts of the organization, volunteers, and the administration to consolidate a top-level event."
The Deltebre race will kick off the TriTour 2026 circuit, which will also visit Cambrils, El Pont de Suert, and Tossa de Mar throughout the year.
