The evolution from the former Escola d’Art i Cultura aims to strengthen and expand its cultural and educational initiatives, opening them to the citizens of the Terres de l’Ebre, Camp de Tarragona, and Baix Penedès. The president of the Diputació de Tarragona, Noemí Llauradó, highlighted the commitment to enhance art and culture, foster innovation, and promote local talent.
The new center organizes its activities into five main areas: exhibition, education, training, artistic residencies, and cultural mediation. This comprehensive approach combines creation, learning, and participation with a public service mission, as explained by the deputy of Social and Cultural Promotion, Óscar Sánchez.
A key innovation is the Artistic Residencies Program. Following a pilot phase with artists such as Josep Poblet i Ventura, Pep Escoda, and Sarah Misselbrook, a call for proposals will open in 2027. Residents will receive technical and conceptual support, workspace, access to tools and workshops, fees, and materials, with their projects to be exhibited within the Diputació's Cultural Spaces Network.
The Cultural Mediation Program is also being strengthened, aiming to bring art and culture closer to the public through social inclusion and community engagement. Collaborations have been established with entities like the Fundació Pere Mata and the Fundació Blanquerna.
The Exhibition programs, featuring year-round exhibitions; Training, with approximately forty courses and 800 students planned for the first half of 2026; and Education, with projects involving nearly 600 students from regional educational centers, are being maintained and enhanced.
