The Junts per Tortosa municipal group has called on the local government to immediately settle unpaid bills owed to Petjades de l'Ebre, the organization managing the city's animal shelter.

According to the opposition party, the entity has not received payments for its services since November. Spokeswoman Meritxell Roigé stated that the service has a valid contract and budget, blaming the delay on poor municipal management in Tortosa.

"The situation means workers have not been paid and volunteers must spend their own money to guarantee animal care."

The group highlighted that the Tortosa City Council ended the year with 14.1 million euros in cash reserves, making the continued debt to suppliers and the animal shelter unacceptable.
