The initiative, presented in Gandesa Square, primarily aims to collect the problems affecting the old town and the Canalets area, as well as the lack of a convened Recovery Table. The presentation event saw an attendance of over 70 people, surpassing previous participation and demonstrating strong citizen support for the neighborhood's pressure.
During the presentation, a manifesto was read detailing demands to both the EMD of Jesús and the Tortosa City Council. A two-month campaign has been announced to document deficiencies street by street and present them directly to the Recovery Table.
“"We do fulfill our commitment to defend Jesús and Canalets; we will not stop until the town receives the respect and investment it deserves."
Demands to the EMD of Jesús include real investment and immediate activity in the old town, as well as the urgent convening of the Recovery Table. The EMD opposition has been asked for effective oversight and to cease being "accomplices" through their silence. Regarding the Tortosa City Council, compliance with the agreement to provide Jesús with two local police officers and a real inspection of works is demanded. The municipal opposition is also urged to actively champion the town's shortcomings.
The organization emphasized its willingness to work jointly with parties, technicians, and residents, stressing that their hand "has always been and remains extended to everyone, regardless of political affiliation." The event concluded with a warning that if no tangible progress is made in the coming months, new pressure tactics will be initiated, asserting that "we will not give up anything" for the dignity of Jesús.
