The Tortosa City Council has launched the Trade Council this February to coordinate revitalization strategies with the main economic agents and local merchant associations.

This initiative involves the Tortosa Més federation, the Market Vendors Association, and the Platigot restaurant group. The preliminary meeting established a framework for collaboration aimed at enhancing personalized service as a key local value.

"The goal is to collect ideas and proposals to promote local trade, highlighting its value in personalized attention."

Under the Neighborhood Plan framework from the Generalitat, the council will draft a special usage plan for the Historic City. This document will regulate new business openings to prevent saturation and protect traditional shops from commercial desertification.
Additionally, an inventory of empty premises will be created to encourage urban reactivation. The strategy includes applying for public grants in April and analyzing reports from the Rovira i Virgili University.
