The Tivenys Town Council has installed signage for its first historical memory route, a circular path connecting Civil War fortifications and the tomb of Marcel Savoia, with the official inauguration scheduled for March 7.

The route, which is circular and accessible in both directions, is located near the Iberian settlement and covers various fortifications, parapets, and trenches from the Civil War. The route concludes at the tomb of Marcel Savoia, a brigadista of the Marseillaise Brigade, located on the road connecting Tivenys to Benifallet.

"We are very happy because this is the first time in the history of Tivenys that such a space has been built. First, we rigorously identified the spaces, and then we were able to signpost and dignify them so they can be visited."

Mayor of Tivenys · Mayor
The project, which originated in work started in 2020, brings great value to the municipality, both for its proximity to the Iberian settlement and for its function in recovering democratic memory. The mayor stressed that the action was developed “strictly following the criteria of the Memorial Democràtic and with its quality seal.”
This initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration of volunteers and landowners, as well as the participation of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the collective Territori Inhòspit. The official inauguration ceremony will take place on March 7 and will include the presence of some soldiers and a small historical reenactment, co-organized with the association Lo Riu, la Fatarella, Territori Inhòspit, the Centre d’Estudis, and the URV.
