The plenary session of the Tortosa City Council will definitively approve on Monday an ordinance establishing the bases for granting non-competitive aid, aimed at combating the risk of residential exclusion.

This initiative, which arose from an agreement between the municipal government (formed by Movem Tortosa-PSC and ERC) and the municipal group of the CUP, seeks to support families facing economic vulnerability due to inflation and rising housing costs.

"The economic situation and inflation, which also affects the housing sector, lead many families to suffer situations of risk of residential exclusion. With this line of aid, we want to facilitate the permanence of families who own a home in their own home, and that they do not have to leave it due to situations of economic difficulty."

Mar Lleixà · Mayor of Tortosa
Mayor Mar Lleixà explained that the initial approval of the ordinance took place in the ordinary plenary session of November, but the Junts per Tortosa group presented allegations that have been resolved. Once the approval is definitive and the bases come into force, the call for these aids will open, which have a budget of 60,000 euros for this year.
This annual aid program is designed to cover expenses associated with habitual housing, with the aim of mitigating the economic impact on taxpayers in an unfavorable economic situation. The aid is aimed at people who own their habitual home and are in a situation of socioeconomic vulnerability.
To access these aids, applicants must meet several requirements, such as being registered at the same address, being owners of a property right of the habitual home with a cadastral value of less than 25,000 euros, being up to date with tax obligations, and that the total gross income of the family unit does not exceed the amounts established in the bases. Furthermore, they cannot own another urban property.
