The Calonge i Sant Antoni Council has confirmed the success of the Marine Green Area second phase, identifying 158 species and verifying the environmental regeneration of the coast.

Project directors Boris Weitzmann and Xavier Munill presented the 2025 season results on February 27th. Key findings include an increase in fish populations and the presence of juvenile groupers, a clear sign of species recovery in the area.

"The project is an example of local leadership in environmental protection."

The CARLIT index reached a Very Good rating due to the presence of Cystoseira algae communities. Additionally, Posidonia oceanica meadows remain stable, and no invasive species were detected during the monitoring period.
The initiative also focuses on public awareness through an educational documentary and workshops for the tourism sector, aiming to protect the Costa Brava marine life for future generations.
