The wildfire affecting the Les Gavarres massif has been stabilized since Saturday night, after burning approximately 2,300 hectares of forest land and several structures.

Extinguishing efforts have allowed the Bombers de la Generalitat to secure the perimeter of the affected area thanks to improved weather conditions. Despite the stabilization, the fire is not yet considered under control, and mop-up operations are expected to continue until the middle of next week.
Damage reports include the total destruction of four homes, as well as an industrial facility and livestock installations. Currently, confinement orders remain in place for approximately 12,000 residents across several municipalities and scattered settlements in the Baix Empordà region, including la Bisbal d'Empordà, Calonge i Sant Antoni, and Santa Cristina d'Aro, among others.
Authorities have ordered the closure of the Les Gavarres protected natural area until next Friday. The emergency operation is supported by the UME, ADF volunteers, and local farmers, amid high wildfire risk conditions due to the heatwave.
