A jury has found Carlos Zamora Ramírez guilty of murder for killing a 44-year-old man with a machete in Verges during the summer of 2022.

The incident occurred outside the Mas Pi restaurant. The victim, a resident of Bordils, was attacked by surprise after the defendant falsely signaled he would not cause any harm. The jury unanimously agreed that the use of a large machete and the sudden nature of the assault constituted murder.
The verdict includes two mitigating circumstances: psychological impairment and emotional distress. The defense is seeking a 7.5-year sentence, while the prosecution is asking for up to 20 years in prison. The trial at the Girona Court is now concluded awaiting the final sentence.
