Approximately eighty people gathered this Friday in front of the Baix Empordà County Council in la Bisbal to protest against a physical assault on a Basic Social Services professional.

The demonstration followed an attack by a service user, an incident that workers claim is not isolated but part of a growing trend of violence in the sector. They argue that such incidents jeopardize staff safety and undermine a public service vital for social cohesion.

These situations put the integrity of professionals at risk and weaken an essential public service for social cohesion.

The collective is calling for social workers to be officially recognized as authorities to provide them with greater legal protection. Furthermore, they are demanding the implementation of clear safety protocols and preventive measures to ensure security across all social service centers in the Baix Empordà region.
