The extinction operation, consisting of about 500 personnel from the Bombers de la Generalitat and the Military Emergencies Unit, is focusing efforts on stabilizing the right flank of the fire. The Puig de les Arques area is difficult to access, requiring the priority use of aerial units to drop water and retardant on the vegetation.
The flames reached some structures in the municipality of Calonge overnight, affecting the Can Marcó farmhouse and several gardens in the Mas Ambros and Les Cabanyes residential areas. Despite material damage, no injuries have been reported, other than minor injuries to four firefighters who have already returned to duty.
The lockdown affects approximately 12,000 people in towns such as Calonge i Sant Antoni, Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro i s'Agaró, Cruïlles, Monells i Sant Sadurní de l'Heura, Forallac, La Bisbal d'Empordà, Llagostera, and Santa Cristina d'Aro.
