Palafrugell is commemorating World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10th, with an extensive program of activities scheduled throughout October and November.

The municipal initiative features a variety of events designed to foster emotional well-being, provide tools for daily life, and raise public awareness about the importance of mental health. The program includes practical workshops, artistic activities, and specialized training for professionals in the social and healthcare sectors.
Activities will commence on Wednesday, October 7th, with a chair-based yoga and Pilates masterclass at 4 PM in the basketball court on Carrer Ample. This session aims to promote physical health and strengthen community bonds.
On Thursday, October 8th, two key events will take place. In the morning, at 10 AM in Plaça Nova, Més enllà de l’etiqueta (Beyond the Label) will be held, an activity inviting reflection on prejudice and human complexity. In the afternoon, at 5 PM in the Safareig de la Font, the exhibition Roba estesa al safareig (Clothes Hung Out to Dry) will open, accompanied by a video projection on mental health, organized by the Associació Família i Salut Mental.
As part of the celebration, from September 28th to October 9th, the activity Peça a peça, construïm benestar (Piece by Piece, We Build Well-being) is taking place at the Servei Prelaboral Baix Empordà. Participants will decorate wooden pieces representing well-being, which will form a collective artwork to be exhibited on October 10th, coinciding with World Mental Health Day. This initiative is organized by Fundació TRESC.
On Sunday, October 18th, the Museu del Suro (Cork Museum) will host El nostre mar interior (Our Inner Sea), an art therapy and well-being workshop. The activity, jointly organized by the museum and the Basic Health Area of Palafrugell, will use the Mediterranean Sea as inspiration to explore the inner world through art.
The program also includes two training sessions for professionals. On Fridays, October 16th and 23rd, at the social venue on Carrer Ample, the course Eines i estratègies per a l’estabilitat emocional (Tools and Strategies for Emotional Stability) will be held. Subsequently, on Friday, November 20th, at the social venue in La Sauleda, the course Intel·ligència artificial generativa per a professionals de la salut mental (Generative Artificial Intelligence for Mental Health Professionals) will be offered, addressing its impacts and risks.
The overall objective of the program is to bring mental health closer to daily life, promoting emotional well-being through free activities, although some require prior registration or booking. The initiative benefits from the collaboration of various local entities and services.
