The Pitort promenade and the accesses to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) campus in Castelldefels will begin accessibility improvement works on April 1, lasting twelve weeks and costing 53,600 euros.

Starting on April 1, the city of Castelldefels will launch an accessibility improvement project affecting the Pitort promenade and the accesses to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) campus. These interventions, which will last approximately twelve weeks, aim to facilitate pedestrian traffic and ensure greater safety for users.
The total budget allocated for these works amounts to 53,600 euros, excluding VAT. Of this amount, 32,700 euros will be used for improvements to the Pitort promenade, while the remaining 20,900 euros will be invested in adapting the bus stop located on Carl Friedrich Gauss Avenue.
The intervention on the Pitort promenade addresses the need to pave an area where pedestrians have created an improvised path to connect with the UPC. A temporary path will be constructed to improve circulation. Regarding the bus stop, the current location does not comply with accessibility regulations, as it presents obstacles such as an information totem. To resolve this, it will be relocated to the other side of the avenue, where a wider sidewalk will be created, and a canopy will be installed to protect users.
Additionally, the new stop will include a metallic structure to cover motorcycle parking and bollards and signaling elements will be installed to delineate a safe pedestrian route. With these actions, the Castelldefels City Council seeks not only to optimize mobility around the university campus but also to ensure the comfort and safety of the university community and visitors to the area.
