The AMB has started construction this week on the Sant Mateu bike lane, a strategic infrastructure project connecting Esplugues de Llobregat and Barcelona through the Diagonal avenue.

Expected to be completed by early autumn 2026, the 400-meter path will provide a key link to the Nou Hospital Clínic. The project involves a 1.7 million euro investment and will feature a 3-meter wide bidirectional lane alongside a pedestrian walkway.
Traffic disruptions are anticipated starting in May, particularly affecting the Ronda de Dalt exit towards Diagonal. Additionally, the University of Barcelona rugby fields will face usage restrictions during the summer months to accommodate the construction works.
