Forest fire in Gavà forces lockdown of several neighborhoods and neighboring towns

A forest fire declared this Wednesday in Gavà has forced the lockdown of thousands of residents in several neighborhoods and nearby municipalities, including Sant Climent de Llobregat and Viladecans.

The fire originated around 1:30 PM on Montserrat Roig street, allegedly due to the combustion of parked vehicles. The flames spread rapidly to the nearby forest vegetation, triggering emergency protocols.
Protecció Civil issued an alert to the mobile phones of affected residents at 3:00 PM, recommending they stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke inhalation.
The Bombers have deployed a large operation consisting of 29 ground crews and 7 aerial units, including water bombers. Extinguishing teams are prioritizing the left flank to stop the fire from spreading towards the serra de Ferreres.
According to the latest data, the perimeter affected by the flames is approximately five hectares. Crews continue to work on several secondary hotspots that have jumped beyond the main fire line.
