Authorities have detected 13 new cases of African Swine Fever in Catalonia, including two in Molins de Rei, leading to expanded restrictions starting this Friday.

The spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) has reached Molins de Rei and El Papiol after two wild boars tested positive outside the original safety zone. These municipalities in the Baix Llobregat region are now classified as high-risk areas.
Starting this Friday, access to natural spaces will be restricted, banning sports, leisure, and forestry activities. This follows the protocol already active in Cerdanyola del Vallès since November to prevent the virus from spreading further through the Collserola Park.

"There are no farms affected in the new radii, and the 20-kilometer radius remains in place."

Containment efforts will be intensified with new fencing along the N-2 and B-23 highways. While no commercial farms have been impacted yet, authorities will continue controlled culling in low-risk areas to monitor the wild boar population.
