The main access was closed exactly one month ago when pieces of stone from the cornice fell onto the public road. Fortunately, the incident caused no personal injuries, but it forced the Sort City Council (Ajuntament de Sort) and the Bishopric of Urgell (Bisbat d'Urgell) to cordon off the area to ensure the safety of pedestrians and worshippers.
Following the initial intervention by the Firefighters and technical services to clean and sanitize the area, definitive repairs were carried out on the cornice. While the church was closed, masses were temporarily held on the ground floor of the rectory. The security cordon also temporarily affected the annex building housing the Oficina Jove del Pallars Sobirà (Youth Office).
The reopening comes at a crucial time, just before the Christmas holidays. In fact, the temple is already hosting the traditional Nativity scene this weekend, a work by the artist Benjamí Montané. This year, the scene is themed to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the designation of the Falles del Pirineu (Pyrenees Fire Festivals) as World Heritage.
