The Calafell City Council is carrying out street renovation works in the core area of Segur de Calafell with a total investment of 12.4 million euros, distributed across two main projects. This figure represents the highest investment in the municipality's history.
The largest project, with a budget of 10.5 million euros, focuses on the comprehensive renovation of 25,000 square meters of public roads in Segur Platja. This area is delimited between the railway line and the Passeig Marítim (Seafront Promenade), covering streets from Rin to Loira.
Concurrently, the final phase of the renovation of the Rodríguez Pita neighborhood is being completed, with an investment of 1.9 million euros. This phase addresses the remaining streets following previous actions carried out in 2010 and 2022, specifically in the area bordered by the Barcelona road, Baixador street, Pisuerga street, and Lola Boronat square.
“"The municipal commitment to Segur is more than evident. It is clear that many more actions are needed, but we are talking about well over 100 kilometers of streets and everything cannot be done at once. That is why we must prioritize."
In the short term, the local administration will launch a new plan for sidewalks and road asphalt paving, with an additional budget of 1.5 million euros. This action will primarily target the Segur nucleus and various housing developments to resolve issues with immediate and economically feasible solutions.
