The Xatonada Popular del Vendrell, held since 1985, is a massive event gathering citizens from the municipality and other towns in the Penedès region. The 40th-anniversary celebration began on January 16 with the opening of the exhibition 'De la Rambla al plat: 1986, origen d’una festa' at the Sala polivalent del Portal del Pardo.

The exhibition, which recovers the history, protagonists, and evolution of this tradition, will be available for viewing for two more weeks. One of the most special acts of this year's edition will be the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Paco Azuaga, recognized as the promoter of the Xatonada Popular and Honorary Xatonaire Master.

During the presentation of the edition, held on Friday, February 6 at the Municipal Market, Councillor Christian Soriano emphasized that this festival promotes one of El Vendrell's most typical dishes and teaches new generations how to prepare xató. The main event includes the Mestres Xatonaires Contest and the Children's Xatonaires Exhibition.
