Composer Anna Abad has won the El Vendrell Capital de la Sardana 2026 composition competition with a work that captures the daily rhythm and sounds of the town's streets.

The winning sardana, titled El Vendrell, Capital de la Sardana. Ecos del Vendrell, incorporates local musical references such as the Anthem of El Vendrell and the Goigs de Santa Anna. The composition ends with a 'musical castle' section, symbolizing the collective strength of the local community.
The official premiere is scheduled for Saturday, March 21st, at 11:30 AM at the Tívoli Auditorium. The event marks the start of El Vendrell's year as the capital of this traditional dance, featuring a opening speech by journalist Pep Antoni Roig and the official flag handover at the Town Hall.
Festivities will continue in the afternoon at the Rambla with a performance by the Cobla Ressò dels Dansaires del Penedès, including another premiere by local composer Helena Cullaré.
