The competition, organized by the Catalan Volleyball Federation, stands out for its dynamic format inspired by international models, where stable pairs compete in a game where time and scoring influence every action, making it more agile and unpredictable than traditional beach volleyball.
The key to the format lies in the scoring: points are only awarded if the receiving team wins the rally, and this point is registered when the serving team moves to the receiving court. If the serving team wins the rally, they simply switch positions without changing the score. This rule, combined with a timed countdown per round, creates a very high pace and constant tension, where each play can alter the standings.
The tournament will feature a maximum of 12 male pairs and 12 female pairs, selected based on state and Catalan rankings. The competition will be divided into three phases: first round, semifinals, and final, with a progressive elimination system that will maintain suspense until the end. The final will bring together five pairs competing for the podium over three 15-minute rounds.
The event will kick off at 9:00 AM with the first phase, followed by the semifinals in the afternoon. The men's and women's finals are scheduled for 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM respectively, marking the competition's peak moments.
