The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a second individual this Tuesday in Barcelona in connection with the wave of burglaries being investigated since April in El Vendrell. This man, aged 26, joins the arrest of his brother, aged 22, which took place on May 19th in the same municipality. The newly arrested individual is attributed 28 more burglaries, adding to his brother's 24.
The investigated incidents occurred on several specific nights between April and May, affecting areas such as Sant Salvador, Coma-ruga, Nirvana, Torreblanca, and Sant Vicenç. The second arrestee has eight previous police records for similar offenses and will be brought before the court in Barcelona.
The investigation has determined that the two brothers acted jointly. According to information obtained, the thieves would force open vehicles at night, breaking windows and door or window frames to steal valuables. Among the stolen items are two bicycles valued at 7,000 euros, a watch worth 300 euros, an electric scooter, sports equipment, glasses, a laptop, toolboxes, credit cards, personal documents, and 1,000 euros in cash.
The individuals would hide the stolen items in water pipes to retrieve them during the day. The first detainee, aged 22, was released after appearing in court.
