The pharmaceutical company Cinfa has selected two social assistance projects in Galicia and Navarra, granting €60,000 to each to improve the quality of life for individuals caring for elderly family members.

The ‘AFAGA Contigo 24/7’ project by AFAGA Alzheimer (Galicia) will offer real-time emotional support and guidance through a digital channel. Using the TokApp platform, the initiative aims to provide continuous accompaniment and information to approximately 2,000 caregivers in the Vigo health area, many residing in dispersed rural zones.

"We want no caregiver to feel alone or disoriented. Technology must help us better understand people, contact them more directly, and reduce the emotional burden of care."

The second selected project is the ‘Escuela de Familias 360’ (360 Families School) by the Fundación San Juan de Dios de Navarra. This program supports around 100 caregivers of elderly relatives with chronic illnesses, starting during hospital admission and continuing at home with visits from an occupational therapist to assess structural needs and provide emotional support.

"The Escuela de Familias 360 arises from the needs detected by professionals with admitted patients and their families when hospital discharge arrives."

This marks the first call for “Aid for social entities supporting caregivers” by Cinfa, which received 40 applications nationwide. The majority profile of the family caregiver is a woman around 50, often working, who belongs to the 'sandwich generation,' caring for both her children and elderly parents.
