The easterly storm (llevantada) has wreaked havoc on the Badalona coastline, with waves exceeding 4 meters in height. The most affected section so far is Barca Maria beach, where several parts of the promenade have collapsed.
In addition to the partial collapse of the promenade, several streetlights have been knocked down. The Guàrdia Urbana (Local Police) had already closed access to this area since yesterday as a preventive measure.
The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Catalan Meteorological Service) maintains the maximum alert level (red, 5 out of 6) for waves that could even exceed 6 meters on the Badalona coast.
Other beaches such as Cristall and Estació are also suffering the effects of the storm, reporting significant destruction of beach furniture, including showers, bins, and wiring.
