The Barcelona City Council approved the plan on Friday to replace the existing pool at the Can Felipa sports center, in Sant Martí, with a regulation 33x25 meter pool.

The reform, which received the unanimous support of all municipal groups, will allow the new facility to host official water polo competitions. This action is part of a broader agreement between the PSC and ERC to renovate 13 sports facilities in Barcelona with an investment of 10 million euros.

The comprehensive reform of the sports center includes an expansion of the building up to the third floor and the improvement of its relationship with the surrounding public space.

The Sports Councillor, David Escudé, detailed that the Special Plan is not only focused on the pool but also foresees a “comprehensive reform” of the sports center. The building will be expanded up to the third floor, and the connection of the facility with the urban environment will be improved.
The new regulation pool will be located in the basement of the building. The ground floor will maintain the main entrance, reception, changing rooms, and gym. The first, second, and third floors will house the sports program, while the fourth floor will retain its cultural use, including a theater hall.
