The Government of the Generalitat has approved the transfer of 300 million euros to the Department of Health to cover the increased expenditure generated by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This transfer comes from the income corresponding to Catalonia from the state Covid-19 fund, and is added to previous increases approved for the departments of Business and Knowledge (20 million) and Culture (6 million).
This budget increase will reinforce the financing of the Servei Català de Salut and the Agència de Salut Pública de Barcelona in pandemic management. It will also allow for the hiring of new staff to improve contact tracing across the entire territory of Catalonia.
Last July, the Government already agreed to an increase in public accounts worth 1,230 million euros using resources from the Covid-19 fund. These resources were used to replenish the expenditure of departments that advanced funds during the first months of the health crisis, especially in the socio-health and health sectors.
