The delivery company Glovo has presented an employment regulation file (ERO) that foresees the layoff of 143 workers in Catalonia, representing 19% of the total nationwide, with impacts in Barcelona, Tarragona, and Girona.

Glovo's initial proposal details that 78 employees in the Barcelona region, 53 in Tarragona, and 12 in Girona will be affected by the ERO. In the Lleida region, however, no layoffs are planned, according to information reported by SER Catalunya and confirmed by ACN.
Negotiations for this file, which will affect a total of 750 workers nationwide, began on the morning of April 15, 2026. This measure comes less than a year after Glovo implemented a change in its hiring model, transitioning from self-employed riders to salaried employees.
This shift was prompted by several court rulings, including one in July that determined 3,572 of the company's riders between 2015 and 2018 were misclassified as self-employed. After receiving similar rulings, the multinational stated on July 1 that it was operating with a 100% employment model. Now, Glovo justifies the ERO as a measure to "avoid the closure" of its service in various locations.
